Hexapoda Classes
The Subphylum Hexapoda can be further categorized into classes. Hexapods have six legs and a pair of antennae.
Insecta (Insects)
Insects are the most diverse group of animals, so there is a whole entomology guide dedicated to them. Insects are the only arthropods with wings.
Collembola (Springtails)
Most springtails are able to jump using a spring-like appendage on their abdomen, which is how they got their name. Springtails live in the soil, and they feed on decaying organic matter. They are harmless to humans.
Springtails are frequently used in bioactive terrariums, which are reptile or amphibian enclosures that use decomposers (like springtails) to clean up waste.
